The Red Sox are shopping Tony Graffanino, who is being squeezed out by Mark Loretta, and the Nationals have a major problem on their hands trying to decide what to do with an unhappy Alfonso Soriano. Soriano still won't move to the outfield, and with Jose Vidro entrenched at second base, something has to give. Washington also needs another outfielder after learning Friday that Jose Guillen is out for three months because of a wrist injury, and the Mets possess an attractive trade chip in Victor Diaz. The Mets repeatedly have tried for Soriano in the past, and general manager Omar Minaya is a big fan of Vidro; he signed him to his current four-year, $40-million contract when both were in Montreal. As appealing as either one of those two may be, the Mets aren't ready to pull the trigger yet, and the club's decision-makers insist they're comfortable with the in-house options of Anderson Hernandez, Chris Woodward and Jeff Keppinger if Matsui fails.
