Mets reliever Kelvim Escobar will undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair a torn capsule in front of his right shoulder.
Escobar has only pitched in one major-league game since 2007 and has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the season.
The Mets signed Escobar to a one-year, guaranteed $1.25 million contract last offseason.
