Two weeks ago, Rangers owner Tom Hicks and a group of Rangers officials met face-to-face with Roger Clemens, but conceded the Rangers are still a long shot to sign the 43-year-old seven-time Cy Young Award winner, the owner said on Tuesday. "He lives 15 minutes from Minute Maid Park [in Houston], so that?s a big advantage," Hicks said. "He?s a true champion. He took Texas to the College World Series and Houston to the World Series. We made the presentation to him that he can do the same with the Rangers.?? Hicks also indicated the Rangers have no issues with Clemens waiting until May -- or perhaps longer -- to start pitching this season.
