Brewers general manager Doug Melvin held a conference call Monday with agents representing infielder Bill Hall as talks continued regarding a possible multi-year contract. "They're supposed to come here March 5," Melvin said. "I told them we'd explore it. That doesn't mean it will happen but we said we'd look at it." Hall will be eligible for salary arbitration for the first time after the season and the sides have discussed a three-year deal that would buy out the first two years of arbitration. Hall, 25, made $344,000 in 2005 during a breakthrough season in which he batted .291 with 17 home runs and 62 runs batted in while seeing action in 146 games. "It would be nice to get a chance to have some security, if things go well in negotiations," said Hall, who again is scheduled to be a super utility player in the infield.
