Jason McLeod, Boston's scouting director since 2004, was hired by the San Diego Padres as their assistant general manager, multiple club sources confirmed Wednesday night. The hiring is expected to become official on Friday. McLeod has played a lead role in every draft in his time with the team, a six-year span that yielded crop of talent including Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard.
