The Twins want to schedule a workout at the unfinished Target Field next month to familiarize themselves with their new home before it officially opens in April 2010. Monday night, the grounds crew installed home plate, the pitching rubber and some of the sod. The turf is expected to be game ready by Nov. 1 before it goes dormant for the winter. Team President Dave St. Peter said the plan is to have players take batting practice during their Sept. 11-20 homestand. The sneak preview would allow players to experience the sightlines from home plate and give the team a chance to correct any minor distractions before Opening Day. "If we have to make adjustments, it's easier in October or November than at the last minute in April," St. Peter said.
