Barry Bonds resumed rehabilitation on his injured right knee last weekend and hopes to return around the All-Star break, likely as a pinch-hitter. He's back in uniform and sitting in the dugout again with his teammates. "He looks like a baseball player when he's in uniform," Alou said Tuesday before the opener of a three-game series against the Dodgers. "You can see a face now revealing a more enthusiastic feeling than before. He'll be back this year." The 40-year-old Bonds no longer needs an IV to treat his infected knee but is still taking oral antibiotics. For now, his rehabilitation includes regaining range of motion in his knee through light resistance exercises. He has undergone three arthroscopic operations since Jan. 31, the most recent on May 2 to drain fluid from the knee and try to control the infection. "Barry himself said the All-Star break," Alou said. "The All-Star break is still a long time away. I'll take that. I really have no concerns. If Barry Bonds is healthy, it's not your average team. Even losing all this time, he's still going to be a factor -- a factor of intimidation, a factor of production. I don't think the first time back they're going to throw him a fastball down the middle."
