The Venezuelan judge presiding over the Ugueth Urbina's murder case denied bail Wednesday, meaning Urbina remains in prison. No trial date has been set yet and Urbina's lawyers remain confident that Urbina will be granted bail in the coming weeks, possibly days, ESPN's Pedro Gomez reported. The 31-year-old right-hander, who most recently pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies, is accused of joining a group of men in attacking and injuring five workers with machetes and pouring gasoline on them. Since early November, Urbina has been in a prison in Los Teques, on the outskirts of Caracas, where he awaits his trial on a charge of attempted murder. On Oct. 15, two weeks after Major League Baseball's regular season ended, there was a bloody episode at Urbina's ranch. Five ranch hands, employees of Urbina for only a month, claim that Urbina and several of his friends attacked them after falsely accusing them of taking a pistol from his home.
