It's no secret that the Mariners want to leave Texas with a starting pitcher, and Monday, the opening day of the Winter Meetings, it became clear that free agent Kevin Millwood is their primary target.
Three different baseball sources said the Mariners and Millwood's agent, Scott Boras, have been working toward a deal, with one source saying Seattle has tendered an initial offer of four years and $44 million, potentially with an option for a fifth year.
Detroit and Cleveland, the team Millwood pitched for last year, also remain in the Millwood mix.
