Yankees outfielder Hideki Matsui has fluid in his left knee again, the same condition that led to surgery last season. New York manager Joe Girardi said that Matsui "maybe has taken a little step backward" and also said the development was "somewhat discouraging, but I think it's something we're going to have to deal with because of where he is in his career with his knees." Girardi added, however, that Matsui could be used as a designated hitter over the weekend. "I don't think so, as long as I control it with treatment." Matsui said about a possible trip to the disabled list.
