The Yankees claim that Alex Rodriguez will skip surgery on his hip, for now, in hopes that rest will heal a torn labrum. New York general manager Brian Cashman revealed the course of action on Thursday afternoon. "If at some point it's not working and it's a problem, then the other one (surgery) becomes more of a choice," Cashman said. If Rodriguez is able to make it through the season, he'll after surgery after the 2009 season. "At this time, we're going to go the conservative route," Cashman said. "We're going to take it day by day, week by week, month by month." Early Thursday, Rodriguez's brother claimed that the third baseman would undergo hip surgery.
