Vernon Wells announced today that he will not be playing in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Wells said on Friday that there are issues with his contract and related insurance clauses that cannot be circumvented. "Some insurance issues have come up, it has to do with the amount of time I spent on the disabled list the prior season (2008)," Wells said. "I was really looking forward to it, playing in front of a Toronto crowd under a different circumstance, it would have been great."
