With only four days remaining until pitchers and catchers report, the Colorado Rockies have named Jorge De La Rosa to their rotation list. Before the start of camp, it looks like Jeff Francis will be out for the season. The Rockies are thinking ahead to make this move?hopefully it isn't a premature one. De La Rosa appeared in 28 games last season. He finished the year with a 10-8 record with a 4.92 ERA. Lifetime, De La Rosa is 25-31 with an awful 5.55 ERA. Combined with his flair for the dramatic, it is enough to scare people away. De La Rosa's redemption comes from the final six weeks of the 2008 season. He went 5-2 in eleven games (nine starts), posting a fantastic 2.45 ERA and 44 strikeouts. It was enough to get manager Clint Hurdle's attention. This is why Hurdle decided to insert De La Rosa into the mix. The question is? will De La Rosa produce at that level for an entire season? As long as De La Rosa can harness his emotion and use his left-handed pitching prowess on a regular basis, the Rockies should be in pretty good shape. It is important to note the Rockies only have the No. 5 spot up for grabs going into camp.
