There are rumors the Cubs, who have $30 million to spend this winter, could be interested in Rangers outfielder Kevin Mench. While the Rangers are in need of pitching, it's possible center fielder Corey Patterson could be part of a Mench deal. Mench, 28, hit .264 with 25 homers and 73 RBI in 150 games for the Rangers last season. The 26-year-old Leicester appeared in six games (one start) for the Cubs in 2005 after going 5-1 with a 3.89 ERA in 32 appearances in 2004. Leicester spent most of last season at Triple-A Iowa, going 3-8 with a 5.51 ERA in 24 games (16 starts).
