After a handful of moves become official, the Cubs could be in position to restart trade talks with the Padres for pitcher Jake Peavy. Chicago traded Mark DeRosa to the Cleveland and signed free-agent infielder Aaron Miles on Wednesday. Next week the trade of Jason Marquis to Colorado for reliever Luis Vizcaino and the subsequent signing of free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley are expected to become official. If not Peavy, the Cubs could restart talks with the Orioles for Brian Roberts. "We certainly wouldn't close the door on anything," GM Jim Hendry said recently. "Once we add the outfielder we want to add, we'll take a good look where we're at. The pen is getting deeper and deeper. We'll see how we want to shape up the starting situation, whether we pursue somebody else or use somebody internally in that role."
