Padres general manager Kevin Towers claims that there have been no recent discussions with New York's Brian Cashman regarding a trade for Jake Peavy. "I have had no direct conversations with Cashman about Peavy over a period of time," Towers said on Monday. Peavy was linked to the Yankees last week in multiple published reports. Towers is still looking to trade Peavy sooner rather than later. "But nothing is imminent and there's nothing close at this point," Towers said.
