With the season already declared a bust for the Tigers, the team could look to trade outfielder Magglio Ordonez to trim some payroll, according to The Detroit News. Ordonez is owed a lot of money next season, and if he records 540 plate appearances or 135 starts in 2009, his option years for 2010 ($15 million) and 2011 ($15 million) will be guaranteed. He is a tremendous talent, hitting for average and power, while also being relatively patient.
