The Rockies have claimed pitcher Livan Hernandez off the trade waivers rather than wait for him to become a free agent, according to The Denver Post. Colorado claimed him from Minnesota, which means that the Rockies could end up getting stuck paying the $1.6 million remaining on his contract. Hernandez went 10-8 with a 5.48 ERA in 139 2/3 innings for the Twins before being designated for assignment Friday to make room for Francisco Liriano.
