Coco Crisp slid into third base and sprained his right thumb. Crisp was prepared to slide to the outside of the bag. But third base coach Joel Skinner told him to slide to the inside, which forced Crisp to make a quick adjustment. As he adjusted, Crisp slammed his thumb on the ground and felt it pop. "It was pretty bad right when it happened," Crisp said. "I've played through injuries before. Usually, I can go no matter what." He stayed in the ballgame for a few of innings, but the thumb stiffened and forced Crisp to leave. "There's no fracture. I'm out seven to 10 days," Crisp said. "They said it will take three weeks to completely heal." The injury forced the Tribe to put Crisp on the 15-day disabled list.
