The Pittsburgh Pirates today placed righthanded pitcher Matt Capps on the 15-day disabled list with bursitis in his right shoulder and internal rotation deficit. To take Capps? place on the 25-man active roster, the club has recalled outfielder Steve Pearce from Triple-A Indianapolis. The announcement was made by Pirates Senior Vice President/General Manager Neal Huntington. The 24-year-old Capps is expected to be on the disabled list for approximately eight weeks. He will begin with a rehab progam and then return to a throwing and pitching program. Pearce hit .259 (78-for-301) with 23 doubles, 11 home runs, and 50 RBI in 79 games this year with Indianapolis. He is expected to join the team tonight in Cincinnati.
