The Boston Red Sox are close to signing Japanese right-hander Hirokazu Sawamura, according to a source.

Sankei Sports reported that the deal will be worth $2.4 million over two years.

The 32-year-old has a mid-90s fastball and also utilizes a splitter as well.

In nine seasons in NPB, Sawamura pitched in 352 games, including 88 starts, and had a 2.77 ERA.
