The Texas Rangers have agreed to a two-year deal with Jesse Chavez worth roughly $8 million, according to a source.

Chavez, 35, was vital for the Chicago Cubs over the second half of the 2018 season. He allowed just five runs on 26 hits in 39 innings.

New Rangers manager Chris Woodward wants flexibility in constructing his pitching staff. Chavez was a starter before becoming a relief specialist.
