The Kansas City Royals have agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal with Mike Moustakas, according to multiple reports.

The contract is pending a physical.

The deal could become much larger and stretch into the 2019 season. Moustakas will earn a $5.5 million salary this year with the chance to earn an additional $2.2 million through incentives. It also includes a mutual $15 million option for 2019 with a $1 million buyout.

He rejected the one-year, $17.4 million qualifying offer from the Royals in November.

Moustakas hit .272 last year with 24 doubles and 151 hits while also setting career highs in home runs (38), RBIs (85) and slugging (.521) for Kansas City.
