The Red Sox will not renew discussions with Bobby Valentine about their vacancy managerial position until general manager Ben Cherington returns from his trip to the Dominican Republic, according to a source. Valentine has emerged as a leading candidate for Boston's job in recent days. On Friday, Valentine said that he expected to talk further with the Red Sox. "I'm looking forward to having conversations, if that's what they want to do," said Valentine, who formerly has managed the Texas Rangers and New York Mets in the big leagues and the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan.
