Major League Baseball is getting closer to adding a Wild Card in each league for the postseason, according to a report. A pair of one-game playoffs would be held to determine which of the Wild Card clubs advances in each league. Negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement are moving fast and the addition of a Wild Card team in both the American and National League is one of the major issues. Sources with knowledge of the situation say that the decision is all but done, but nothing will be final until the new bargaining agreement is completed. An additional Wild Card team could be added in each league as soon as 2012, but the new system will take effect no later than 2013.
