The Opsera is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA).

In order to determine the Opsera rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number.

All statistics are through Tuesday, July 2nd.

Rankings from last week are in parenthesizes.

1. (3) Atlanta Braves – 4.19

They were hot early thanks to Justin Upton, but the pitching staff (3.18 ERA) has kept them among baseball's best.

2. (1) St. Louis Cardinals – 4.13

The ever-steady Cardinals rank fifth in OPS (.746) and third in ERA (3.33).

3. (4) Boston Red Sox – 4.05

Dustin Pedroia is somewhat quietly having a career season -- .321/.404/.441 slash line with five home runs and 47 RBI. He also has 12 stolen bags.
