After significant hip surgery, Tim Lincecum is determined to make an appearance on a Major League mound as a member of the Los Angeles Angels organization.

Lincecum joined the Angels after putting on a showcase for clubs on May 6.

"It felt good just getting back on the mound, but it was nerve-wracking because it wasn't something I had to do for a while," Lincecum said last week after pitching for L.A.'s Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake City Bees, in his first game since June 2015. "It was a little different scenario, but it worked out well and I handled it well."

A few teams showed interest in Lincecum, but the Angels seemed like the most likely route back to the Majors.

"I want to be a starter and want to keep that role established," he said. "A lot of other teams didn't see me as that, so it was like a no-doubter. And I'm a West Coast guy."
