The odds are stacked against the Arizona Diamondbacks' playoff hopes, but Tony La Russa says the club isn't yet shifting their focus to next season.

"I'm not asking anybody to be patient because none of us are patient," La Russa said. "But we're not giving in. We're not giving up. There's too much talent here."

The Diamondbacks are 25-34. Since 1903, only four teams have had that bad of a record through 59 games and still managed to reach the postseason.

"We haven't played well enough," Chip Hale said. "If it wasn't a poor pitching performance, then we haven't scored runs. Every day is a different reason."
