With Stephen Strasburg returning from the disabled list, the Washington Nationals will move Doug Fister to the bullpen.

Washington will use Fister as their long reliever, while keeping roster Joe Ross in the starting rotation.

Ross has allowed three earned runs or fewer in his each of his first seven starts.

"He understands if he makes pitches, he has a chance to get them out," Matt Williams said about Ross. "We've seen so far that he doesn't walk a whole lot of guys and makes you put the ball in play and that's important. His ball has good late movement ... and a good slider to go along with it for strikes when he needs it and out of the zone to get a swing and miss, too."

Fister is 4-7 with 4.60 ERA in 15 starts this season.
