The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are the teams most likely to pursue Chase Utley before the end of August, according to an industry source.

There is some uncertainty as to whether the Philadelphia Phillies would part with Utley, who has become a franchise icon.

The 36-year-old second baseman is hitting just .176 but has been hampered by leg issues. Because of injuries, he will not reach the 500 plate appearances that would trigger a vesting option for 2016.
