Mark Teixeira believes players should accept the proposal put forth by Major League owners to restart the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Owners have approved a proposal that outlines the structure of a potential season, but players have yet to OK the details.

"Players need to understand that if they turn this deal down and shut the sport down, they're not making a cent," Teixeira said. "I would rather make pennies on the dollar and give hope to people and play baseball than not make anything and lose an entire year off their career."

With hopes of restarting games in July, owners have proposed splitting 2020 revenues with the players. However, the MLBPA is balking at this idea because that's never been the salary structure in baseball.
