Aaron Boone is among the candidates to become the next manager of the New York Yankees, according to sources.

An interview has not been scheduled.

Boone, 44, joined the Yankees at midseason in 2003 and hit one of the most famous home runs in franchise history in Game 7 of the ALCS against the Boston Red Sox.

The only candidate to interview for the job thus far is longtime Yankees coach Rob Thomson, who met with club executives on Wednesday.
