Tony La Russa is expected to take a front office job with the Boston Red Sox, according to a source.
His role is unclear, but La Russa will likely work in the front office or as an adviser to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. The two have been friends for nearly 40 years.
The Boston Herald first reported the hiring.
