Prince Fielder had cervical fusion of the C5-C6 discs in his neck on Tuesday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Dr. Drew Dossett handled the surgery in Dallas.
The Texas Rangers acquired Fielder from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Ian Kinsler last November.
