Jim Leyland said he is "shocked" and "broken-hearted" that former Detroit closer Jose Valverde still has not signed with another team, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday.
Valverde recorded 35 saves last season for the AL champion Tigers but struggled to a 3.78 ERA.
