The parent company of Fox Sports, News Corporation, is inching closer to acquiring 49 percent of the YES Network, according to sources.
Final details are still being worked out, but News Corp. will buy its shares from the Yankees' holding company Yankees Global Enterprises as well as the other network investors.
Under the deal that the board of directors presented, which could still change as negotiations are ongoing, the Yankees would sell nine percent of its ownership in the regional sports network that broadcasts its games as well as Nets games which will reduce its share to 25 percent of YES.
