Larry Rothschild isn't sure if Mariano Rivera will return to the Yankees next season or opt for retirement after tearing his ACL in early May.

Rivera told Brian Cashman that he was having doubts about his future.

"At the end of the season I thought for sure he was coming back because of all the rehab he had done and everything he had done leading up right to the end of the season," Rothschild told SiriusXM host Jim Duquette.

"When I got home I heard the talk that he may not come back and he may retire, but I don't know. I would bet anything that he's coming back, but I have not talked to him," Rothschild said. "I've kind of left him on his own cause that's a decision he has to make. I'll talk to him in the next week or 10 days, but there's no parameters [on when he has to make the decision] and Cash will handle that part of it."
