Tommy John: 'Yankees Screwed Over Joba Chamberlain'

Joba Chamberlain has struggled since he returned to the mound for the Yankees, but the issues may not be his own fault.

Tommy John said in a radio interview Thursday that the Yankees "screwed" Chamberlain when they created "The Joba Rules".

John was talking on ESPN Radio about Washington's looming limit of Stephen Strasburg when he touched on his own career, "From the time I came back until I quit in 1989, I never missed a start in 13 years. Now, we were archaic back there, but here's my take on the thing: There's no guarantee (if) you shut him down. The Yankees screwed Joba Chamberlain over. I mean, this poor kid has had all kinds of problems and they had Joba Rules.

"It didn't help him a bit," John added. "He still had to have Tommy John surgery."
