Bobby Abreu has accepted a minor league assignment with the Dodgers after clearing waivers. Abreu was designated for assignment last week to make room on the roster for Shane Victorino, who was acquired in a trade with the Phillies. Abreu expects to rejoin the big-league club in early September, when the roster expands to 40 players. "We discussed this with Bobby and the Dodgers, and we think this is his best chance to get back to the majors by September 1, if not sooner," said Abreu's agent, Peter Greenberg.
