Bruce Bochy wants better conditioning out of his third baseman following the player's return from injury and Pablo Sandoval has heard the Giants manager loud and clear. "What happens when you've got a great manager is you need advice, to work hard and be a better player," Sandoval said. "He told me to work hard. 'You've got talent. You've got to show what you've got.' "They're the bosses. They make the decisions. If they say what they want me to do, I've got to get in shape." Sandoval played on Saturday for the first time in more than five weeks. After the third baseman's comments, Bochy said, "There comes a time when you don't want to hear it. You need action. It's got to happen now. ... It's got to be consistent. It can't be three or four days. It's got to be for the season. He knows what he needs to do. He's a vital part of the team."
