Brewers Want To Avoid Arbitration With Marcum

The Brewers are hoping to avoid arbitration with right-hander Shaun Marcum.
Milwaukee has not made the date for their meeting with Marcum public knowledge.
"I talked to [agent] Rex [Geary] yesterday and we might talk again today," Brewers director of business operations Teddy Werner said Tuesday.
"Through the whole process, I've remained hopeful of reaching an agreement. I'm still optimistic we can get something done."
Marcum, acquired from Toronto in a trade in December, filed a salary request of $5 million and the Brewers offered $3 million.
