The Orioles offered Adam Dunn a four-year, $40 million deal before he agreed to sign with the White Sox, according to a source.
Dunn received a four-year, $56 million contract from Chicago.
It marks the second time Baltimore has been outbid and lost a coveted free agent. They made a run at Victor Martinez before he signed with Detroit.
