Edgardo Alfonzo, 32, is a free agent after this season, and he said he hopes to sign a deal somewhere to be an everyday second baseman. He is making $8 million, the same amount the Angels would have owed Finley, who now plays for the San Francisco Giants. "A lot of teams in the big leagues need a guy like me," Alfonzo said. "I think it's a big mental adjustment," Manager Mike Scioscia said. "Edgar's very professional. We know he still has a piece of the puzzle that could be very important for us."
