Rays outfielder Carl Crawford doesn't believe that umpires are paying close attention when he tries to steal bases. "Yeah, I've been looking safe a lot lately, man," Crawford told the Tampa Tribune on Sunday. "For some reason, I've just been getting called out. I don't know what it is. I'm a speed guy. Common sense will tell you to watch the play closely, because it's going to be a close play. "I don't know if it's because I slide feet first or whatnot. I refuse to slide head first, because of injury. But I think it has a lot to do with me sliding feet first, and they're just not getting in the proper position to see I'm safe most of the time." Crawford has 59 steals this season, tying his own team record.
