The sole survivor of the crash that killed Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two others threw out the first pitch in Oakland on Saturday. Jon Wilhite threw out the first pitch to Oakland catcher Kurt Suzuki, one of his former college teammates. Wilhite wore sunglasses and a personalized #5 A's jersey during the pitch. He is still working towards a full recovery. "My speech, it's gotten better slowly," Wilhite said with a laugh. "If you think I'm talking slowly now, I was talking 100 times slower before." Suzuki has raised over $25,000 for Wilhite's rehabilitation. "The players have been awesome," Wilhite said. "They've taken me in and treated me like I'm one of them. The whole baseball community has just been awesome." His skull was separated from his spinal column, a rare injury that's frequently fatal.
