Yankees catcher Jorge Posada committed an error in the team's win over the Rangers on Tuesday, the team's first since May 13.
Posada threw the ball into center field when trying to catch Texas shortstop Elvis Andrus stealing in the fourth inning.
Their record streak ended at 18 games.
New York broke the previous major league mark of 17 games, set by the Red Sox in 2006.
