Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz believes that people "panic too easy" in Boston. Many where worried after the team started the season 2-6, but seven consecutive wins later, Ortiz may have had the last laugh. "That's Boston," he said. "People panic too easy here. I've been here seven years, man, and the years that we struggle the most, we win the World Series. Sometimes, I guess, panicking, that's what makes the game interesting. Sometimes, that gets the game all (messed) up too. I don't know, I love it. It's good with me. I've been dealing with it for years, so I know how it goes." Ortiz, himself, is struggling. He has yet to hit a home run this season, and his batting average stands at .220. "Hitting my first homer, I don't want to let that get in my head because it will just make it worse," Ortiz said. "At some point, one is going to come, and then the next one and then the next one. Next thing you know, you're right there with everybody."
