Legendary Cardinals' slugger Mark McGwire has helped Skip Schumaker work on his game, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "Skip's got some talent, and he's only going to get better," McGwire said recently. "But I think he was one of those young kids who was trying to look ahead at things instead of what's in the present." Schumaker is hitting .305 with 8 home runs and 43 RBIs. McGwire enjoys working with players in the winter when he's not playing golf. "Before this season, I told him, 'Skip, you have to understand that the whole outfield is wide open there. But you can't worry about who else is there. Worry about yourself and just leave it on the field.'" "Now, you look at what he's accomplished ... he's a stud," McGwire added.
