Cubs Manager Lou Pinella plans to stick with outfielder Kosuke Fukudome as the leadoff hitter in the team's lineup, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. There were rumors that Reed Johnson would take over as the first man in the order while Alfonso Soriano sits out another month, but Pinella insists that Fukudome will keep the role. Kosuke hit in the leadoff spot for the first time on Wednesday. "Until we get Soriano back in the lineup, I think we'll keep [Fukudome] in the 1-hole. He puts the ball in play. He's got a good eye, has a high on-base percentage, makes the pitcher throw pitches. It's the description of a leadoff hitter, actually," Pinella said.
