Curt Schilling won a world championship in Arizona. He won another with the Red Sox. He has had a career that will at least earn him some consideration for the Hall of Fame 5 years after he retires. It was in Philadelphia, though, that his career began to come together after false starts with the Astros and Orioles, and even the Red Sox. "Before [starring for the Phils in the 1993 postseason] I was a loudmouthed nobody," he once said. "After that I became a loudmouthed somebody." Schilling will start Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against Indians hotshot Fausto Carmona tonight at Fenway Park. After that, who knows? His contract is up after this season. He turns 41 in November. He said he wants to pitch 1 more year. The Phillies are looking for pitching help. "You have to put that my first choice is to stay here," he said during batting practice last night. "But if it doesn't work out, the Phillies are absolutely on the short list of places we'd want to go."
